New Product Development Benchmarking Study Underway
ANCASTER,
CANADA—June 12, 2002—Dr. Robert G. Cooper and Dr. Scott J. Edgett, leaders in the field of new product development,
have commenced a much anticipated benchmarking study in
partnership with the American Productivity and Quality Center
(APQC).
The
study titled, Improving New Product Development
Performance and Practices, is a collaborative
learning project that will examine the critical success
factors and best practices that companies have used to maintain
leadership in their industries. Acting as subject matter
experts, Cooper and Edgett will study leaders in new product
innovation including Air Products, Dow Corning, Exxon Mobil,
Kraft, and Maytag. “I’m looking forward to working
with APQC over the next four months to explore current best
practices in leading organizations” said Dr. Cooper.
The
comprehensive study will examine the link between new product
drivers and measures of new product performance including
exploring new product strategy, new product process, voice
of customer, portfolio management, culture, and organizational
approach. Thus, it will provide participants with in-depth
benchmarking of best practices in new product development.
The
study is the latest in a series of benchmarking studies
conducted by Cooper and Edgett, and is invaluable to organizations
seeking organic growth through product innovation. “This
study provides an excellent opportunity for us to update
our extensive benchmarking data”, said Dr. Edgett.
The
study’s findings will be released in October 2002.
